Description

 'ANGIMBÉ' CUSUMANO 2024

'Angimbé' is one of Cusumano's most famous and loved whites for its pleasant profile fruity, fresh, fragrant and slightly aromatic. It comes from a skilful blend of Insolia (70%) and Chardonnay (30%), two grapes that prove to be perfectly complementary. Insolia, among the most widely cultivated white grapes in Sicily, is particularly appreciated for its intense aromas and harmonious citrus freshness, while Chardonnay for its structure, aromatic richness and complexity. Together they perfectly complement the bouquet, resulting in a wine of great personality. The label is part of the line of Cusumano wines dedicated to individual territories, and best expresses precisely the most typical characteristics of Sicilian whites, intense and Mediterranean.

The 'Angimbé' white wine comes from the Ficuzza Estate, located in Piana degli Albanesi, in the province of Palermo, at an altitude of 700/800 metres above sea level. The climate, hot and dry, is mitigated by the considerable temperature variations between day and nightwhich help give the grapes a fine and elegant profile. The vines are cultivated on clayey soils, the Insolia with south-eastern exposure and the Chardonnay with eastern exposure, with espalier training systems with a density of 5000 vines per hectare and yields that do not exceed 60 quintals/ha. Harvests are all manual, for the Chardonnay in August and for the Insolia during the first ten days of September. Cold maceration for 12 hours at 8 °C is followed by gentle pressing of the grapes and cold decanting. The must is then sent for fermentation in steel at a controlled temperature of 18-20 °C. The wine matures in steel vats on the fine lees for 4 months and completes its ageing with a few months in the bottle.

Angimbé' wine is a white wine that conquers by its harmony and freshness of flavour. The blend of Insolia and Chardonnay proves an absolutely convincing marriage of Sicily and Burgundy. The particular soil and climate conditions of the Ficuzza Estate give it that unrepeatable touch of territoriality, which makes the wine unique and recognisable. In the glass it has a straw-yellow colour. The aromas are intense and recall floral sensations, aromas of citrus fruits, ripe fruit and tropical hints. The sip is agile and fresh, with a tasty centre of mouth and good complexity, which stretches pleasantly towards a savoury finish. It pairs perfectly with typical Sicilian seafood dishes.
