The Etna Lemon PGI (Protected Geographical Indication), is a product with unique, distinctive and valuable characteristics.
Harvesting of the fruit according to the EU-approved specification is done manually in the morning, when all the night dew has evaporated on the surface of the citrus fruit.
The fruits have a particularly intense smell, due to the large number of oil glands that release the volatile part of the essential oils into the air. Etna lemons have a more acidic and pronounced taste than any other lemons in the world. Moreover, since the cultivations are located on soils rich in minerals (and very close to the Ionian Sea), the fruit is an excellent source of zinc and iodine.
